If there is one thing most people need to know about me is that I love Tigger. I have a whole collection of Tigger paraphernalia. I know that I can always count on him to put a smile on my face. I am still a kid at heart and nobody can ever take that away from me. :-) Happy Living!

Here it is in all its glory, the Golden Gate Bridge. For those of you who do not know, I just returned from a week's stay in San Francisco. What a wonderful city. I traveled there with my grandmother and we enjoyed ourselves completely. The only thing I wish I would've done was to hang out at a local cafe and people watch. I like to observe people and their behavior, especially when trying to learn about a culture in a different city. Boy, I wonder what people would say about Chicago-ians. In any event, I hiked up and down the hills of the city, visited Alcatraz, rode the cable cars, and walked Pier 39. Simply amazing. It was refreshing to be out of Illinois and across the country for a bit. I must say, one of the main observations was the price of food. I became very familiar with the Denny's and noticed that prices were almost doubled in San Francisco, than here in Illinois. For two people, we were spending an average of anywhere 25 to 30 dollars a meal... at DENNY'S! I was shocked. The gas prices were about the same.. 3.25 per gallon, for the unleaded. The city is great, but not my cup of tea in terms of permanent residence. I am hoping to retrieve the pictures off of my camera phone soon. When (if) this happens, I will be sure to post them for all to see. It is times like this I wish I had a digital camera. I am behind the times in terms of technology; we'll save that for another post.
I hope all is well in the cyber- blogging world. Enjoy what is left of the summer, it sure is flying by!

I encourage all of you to view Pink's video for the song, Dear Mr. President.
If this isn't the truth, I don't know what is. Thank you, Pink.

I heard the most fascinating statement not too long ago. Someone stated that in order to make God laugh, tell him your plans. At first I got a little kick out of it because it seemed so vague. Then, I realized that I was really thinking about the statement for the rest of the day. By the end of the day I came to the conclusion that it's true. I mean, who would have thought that my Dad would be an Orthodox priest? He was born Catholic and he had a great job at the Federal Reserve Bank. Ironic, but very true. God does have a plan for everybody, whether people choose to accept it or not. Yes, I am going to Northern to become a special educator, but who knows where life is going to take me? Sooner or later I will find what God has in store for me. As my Dad mentioned in his sermon yesterday, all I can do is open my heart and pray.

The sun is my best friend. I found this picture and could not resist adding it to the blog. Isn't it cute? Haha. I had an awesome weekend of spending time with the family. There really is no place like home. I certianly use it as a release of my day-to-day routine. I am glad I was able to hang out with my parents. They're the coolest! I can't wait to be home for the summer.. only a few more days of this craziness.
I only have three semesters left of college- two academic and one student teaching. Where does the time go? I have made a ton of great friends and memories. I would not have it any other way.
I hope everyone has a chance to relax and enjoy some of this sunshine. We have so much to be thankful for. Why not add sunshine and great days to our list??

What an amazingly relaxing day it has been. I literally did nothing today. Well, actually I had a great dinner this fine evening. I had great company too. I am bummed that the weather wasn't a little better. I hear it is supposed to be in the seventies. I can't wait. This rain is great and all, but this girl needs some sunshine.

I am taking one of many certification tests tomorrow afternoon. This exam is the Learning Behavior Specialist certification. Basically, this is what the major is all about. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I have a great support behind me so I know that no matter what happens, I am going to do my best.

Okay, so I have been invited to go to a Cubs game. My family are Sox fans. Choices choices. Hmm..... The game isn't until July so I guess I have some time to deliberate.

Until then, I hope everybody is enjoying what is left of April because it's going to be over before we know it. Lots of Love!

Isn't it amazing how a cell phone can be the best invention ever and an evil enemy the next? I also say that about the WheatThins box. It was great because they are soo tasty, but not so great when I happen to get a box-cut. If you don't know what a box cut is, imagine a paper cut and multiply then pain by three. Ouch!
Back to the cell phone thing. You see, I just switched carriers from Sprint to Cingular. Yay for me! I like my new phone and all, but I am having problems figuring some things out. I suppose it will give me something to do during class. Also, did you notice that with phones, the wrong person always happens to call and the person you want to call, doesn't? We have all been there. I am not going into detail about it, but just know that I am going through that now. Grumble.

Wow, another beautiful day. I celebrated the weather by taking the little boys I babysit for to the park for almost two hours today. They had such a good time and that made me happy.

Enjoy this weather and remember to smile. After all, smiles are contagious! :)

What a beautiful day! I truly enjoy these days when the sun is shining bright and there is not a cloud in the sky. I feel like a kid, wanting to go and play at the park. Anybody want to join? :)

I certainly cannot await for the flowers to bloom. My favorite flower is the Gerbera Daisy. I love this type because of the vibrancy of the flower. They come in any color or size. They are simply unique in their own way.

Well, I hope that everyone can stop and smell the roses every once in awhile. Enjoy the sunshine!

Could this really be spring? With all of that snowy weather we had not too long ago, I almost forgot what nice weather was like.

Just an update: I am well into my last clinical of my college career. This clinical consists of working with students with developmental disabilities. In other words, these students are extremely low-functioning. I was hesitant at first, but I am coming around to like it. I still would not choose this level to teach, but I am glad to have experience. I feel like I am learning a lot.

My parents have moved, again. Now, when I speak of my family, I refer to us as the nomads. Seriously, we need to stop moving. We just moved to Wheaton about two and a half years ago from Orland Park (Orland Hills). Now, we moved in the same complex, just different apartment. This is a lot of moves. Keep in mind that I still have to move to-and-from school every semester. What a hectic lifestyle! haha. It does keep things interesting though.

I certainly hope this weather hangs around for awhile. I, myself really enjoy feeling a slight breeze and the sun warming my skin. Enjoy!

Time to vent.

I am so tired of the jokes that I receive for being a Special Ed. major. People are so ingorant to the career. It disturbs me the comments I have heard about my major. The ironic part is there isn't a certain age range of people who make the rude comments. I have had young and older (like my dad's age) crack 'jokes' about it. Personally, these jokes are disrespectful. Having someone in my family AND knowing that I will be teaching students with lower abilities, I take offense to the comments.
Go ahead accounting majors, learn your numbers. Marketing majors, learn how to sell. Computer Engineering majors, learn your software. Do YOUR business and let me do mine. We are all here for reasons. No major is better than the other. Special Education is not equivalent to easy or less stressful. What are you going to do if your child has special needs????????? Who will be cracking the jokes then?

Okay, sorry for that awful font color in the last posting. I did not realize the new template kicked in. The changes do appear pretty awesome!!!! Should I keep it? Yay/ Nay?

Okay, so I have been trying to change the layout of the blog and I have been unsuccessful thus far. I want to change it to a premade template that looks super cool but it is not allowing me. Tears. Oh well. So I am sitting in my room (no roommate all semester!! yippee!) and looking out the window. The campus looks great with a blanket of snow covering the grounds. The creek that runs through the campus just finally became unfrozen with the great weather we had last weekend. Of course, it is frozen once again. I cannot wait until spring. I feel like we have been in the winter season for two years.
I have been burrowed in my blankets all day. It has been a well-deserved relaxation day. I officially blocked this weekend off as "Becky's Weekend" I refuse to allow myself to do anything other than things I WANT to do. What a difference it makes!!! I feel I have been on a mental retreat to the bahamas or something. AHH!
I was on one of my friend's websites the other day and found this poem:

ISU girls are pretty
Northwestern girls are smart
But it takes a Northern girl
To win a fellas heart
Eastern girls are dirty
Western girls are hoes
But when you want a hot girl
Dekalb is where to go
Any man who reads this
Truly has to know
That if you have a Northern girl
Dont ever let her go...

I thought it showed some school pride. tee hee hee It is true though, NIU girls are quite amazing. If you are one, then you know what I am talking about. If not, I deeply apologize for choosing a not-so-awesome school. Just kidding!!!! Well, I believe I am going to finish off my relaxation day with a good chik flik. Take Care!

Wow, have not done this in awhile. Let me see, it has been a pretty laid-back semester thus far. I feel like I am a slacker, compared to last semester. I think a lot of this slacker-like feelings are spawned from the fact I am accustomed to pre-student teaching clinicals. These require me to wake up at 4:45am twice a week. I am placed in Machesney Park, IL (north of Rockford). I feel like I am placed in Wisconsin. It takes us about an hour each way. I did just complete my student teaching application for next spring. We have to fill it out a year in advance just because of the high competition among different universities for student teacher placements. I requested the Wheaton, Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn area. I certainly hope I get placed close to home. The time is whizzing by!!!!
As for other things going on in my life, I am stuck in a pickle. You see, the beginning of this school year, I broke up with my boyfriend. Our schedules conflicted way too much and there was just no room for a relationship in my school program. We have been close since we were eighteen. We remained close this whole entire time. He stood by me, despite my decision to break it off. He has been amazing and patient with me during my times of stress. That poor guy and all the stuff I put him through. I were him, I would have dumped me a LONG time ago. lol. Well, ever since I broke up with him, I miss him dearly. He was the best! My parents love him and of course just want me to be happy and sane. Anything I choose to do, they will back me up. Here's the pickle: the obvious answer is to get back together with him (for my mom's sanity) lol BUT I still face my school program until 2008. We have been seeing a lot of each other. We have tried dating other people, but somehow we end up back to each other. What do I do?!?!?!?!! Mom, any suggestions? jk. If it was up to my mom, him and I would be engaged, married with a child on the way. It's TRUE! Just do not tell her I said so, she will get the wrong idea and think I am pregnant or something...lol I <3 you mom! Well, that's the dilemma. Any suggestions? I do feel like I am in high school trying to get advice from my friends. Why is this so complicated?!?!?!?!?!? Grumble.

I am back at school once again. YAY for new semesters! I am super excited for this one because I have two clinicals. One is for high school and the other one will be for lower functioning students (ie- students in wheelchairs, mentally handicapped, etc) AND I am excited because so far I do not have a roommate! My dreams have come true!!!! I can't get my hopes up just yet, but boy is this quite a surprise for me. I <3 it. Slowly but surely I have been taking over the whole room.. I deserve this, that's for sure.
Do you believe in second chances? Well let me tell you, I am beginning to. You see, I had difficulties with a certain professor last spring. So much so, I was almost delayed a semester because of it. We really had it out. I had to go to the Department Chair and everything.. it was messy. Low and behold, I pick my classes for this semester and guess who I get as a professor? You got it! Talk about awkwardness. I have not spoken to her since our last confrontation. Well, instead of turning this semester into a disaster because of it, I decided to take the mature step and to email her and apologize for any unnecessary conflict that was caused from our last meeting. I figured if anything, at least I tried to step up to the plate and handle this in a professional manner. Hopefully she can see my attempt and look past our bump in the road and move on to have a successful semester. She has yet to email be back, but hopefully we can get this resolved. Second chance?
We will see.
